Manage bands, artist pages and concert dates with an accessible, theme-independent frontend.

== Description ==

scinet Bandmanager provides administration screens for bands and their concert
dates. Bands can be associated with WordPress pages and displayed with the
`[scinet_bandmanager band="1"]` shortcode.

The optional homepage artwork is rendered with
`[scinet_bandmanager_highlight]`. Page assignments, band order and highlight
settings also remain available to themes through the documented helper
functions; the plugin does not silently append them to page content.

The frontend includes responsive plugin styles and does not require Bootstrap,
Font Awesome or a specific theme. Visible concert information is accompanied by
`MusicGroup` and `MusicEvent` structured data. Search engines independently
decide whether and how they use this data.

The legacy `[bandmanager]` shortcode and the original database identifiers are
retained so existing sites can update without losing content.

All plugin functions are available free of charge. There are no paid feature
unlocking mechanisms, license keys, trials or usage limits. Users who like the
plugin can optionally say thanks and support its continued development. Support
does not affect functionality, updates or regular use.

= Privacy and external services =

The plugin does not contact external services, use telemetry or set cookies.
Band and concert data is stored in the site's WordPress database.

Administrators may enter HTTP(S) links to external websites and media URLs.
When a remotely hosted image is displayed, the visitor's browser contacts that
host and normally sends technical request data such as IP address, user agent
and referrer information. Ordinary external links are contacted only after a
visitor follows them. Using images from the local WordPress Media Library
avoids the remote-image request. Site owners are responsible for the privacy
implications of configured destinations and media.

== Installation ==

1. Upload the `scinet-bandmanager` directory to `/wp-content/plugins/` or install a release ZIP.
2. Activate "scinet Bandmanager" in the WordPress plugin screen.
3. Add bands and concert dates under "Bandmanager".
4. Place `[scinet_bandmanager band="1"]` on an artist page, using the band's numeric ID.
5. Optionally place `[scinet_bandmanager_highlight]` where the configured highlight should appear.

Before replacing the former `bandmanager` directory, open its homepage-highlight
settings and save the currently displayed values once. Some historical versions
use site-specific defaults stored only in code; these cannot be recovered after
the old files are removed. Already saved options are retained by the new plugin.

When updating from the former `bandmanager` directory, WordPress may deactivate
the old plugin path. Activate "scinet Bandmanager" once after replacing the
directory. Existing tables, settings, page assignments and legacy shortcodes
are retained.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Does changing the plugin slug delete existing data? =

No. Version 1.5.0 deliberately retains the existing table names, options and
page meta key. WordPress may require the renamed plugin to be activated once.

= Does the old shortcode continue to work? =

Yes. `[bandmanager band="1"]` is kept as a compatibility alias. New content
should use `[scinet_bandmanager band="1"]`. The historical `id` attribute is
also retained, for example `[bandmanager id="1"]`.

= Does the plugin send data to an external service? =

No. It has no service integration, telemetry or remote code. Administrators can
configure external links and media URLs as content.

= Does uninstalling delete bands and concert dates? =

No. Deactivation and uninstallation intentionally retain all editorial data to
prevent accidental data loss.

= Is any functionality paid or restricted? =

No. Every included function is available free of charge without a license key,
trial period or usage limit. Optional support does not unlock functionality and
does not affect updates.
